When Driving is Not an Option
Orange County DUI charges are tough enough to handle, but having your vehicle seized by California law enforcement only adds stress and expenses to an already difficult situation.
Vehicle seizure occurs in certain cases when a defendant, whose Orange County drunk driving charge(s) has resulted in the suspension or revocation of his or her license, is caught operating a motor vehicle under the influence. While the penalty of having your vehicle impounded is a huge inconvenience, the costs and complications add insult to injury. You could be required to pay any or all of the following:
- Vehicle storage costs
- Towing charges
- Administrative fees
- And more
How it Works
All you need is a DUI conviction on your record within the past 10 years and to be pulled over for suspected drunk driving. The officer might impound your vehicle if one or more of the following conditions are met:
- You refuse to take a breathalyzer test
- You refuse to submit to a blood test
- Your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is .08% or greater
Vehicle Seizure Penalties
- Five-day Vehicle Impoundment —for drivers who have one DUI conviction or one underage DUI charge within the past 10 years
- 15-day Vehicle Impoundment—for drivers who have more than one DUI conviction within the past 10 years
